| I have walked several sections of the CCW and have hardly ever seen another walker. I would recommend walking Walney Island (sandy beaches, dunes and bird life) even though it's not part of the route. I wouldn't recommend walking between Bootle and Silecroft except at low tide as any clifftop paths have fallen away. I like the sections around Humphrey Head, the Cartmel Sands, St Bees Head, the Duddon Estuary and Maryport to Skinburness.
PS I have also done all the Wainwrights and most of the Birketts. | |

| I too am walking the Cumbria Coastal way. The last time i stretched my legs along there was the begining of October 2007. Silecroft was the train destination.....and mine a little off the trail, to the top of Black Combe. How wonderful that was....the day was clear, windy and sunny, and I could see many of the miles that i had so happily walked!! | |
