| The discussion about yourfreepoll is here: http://www.sf-gb.com/yourfreepoll/
It actually allows the voting from the same IP, but it requires a verification if the votes come too soon one after another. Regretably there is no way to fix it, as there are too many people who intentionally create polls without protection and run software hitbots on them. Over time it eventually becomes a problem as they tend to forget to turn their bots off and the false hits stack in enourmous amounts. So it's easier to remove the possibility than to fight the consequences. P.S. I cannot fathom why people do this - unprotected polls do not show in the top anyway.

| There does not seem to be a support link for the www.yourfreepoll.com site (am hoping that they are connected to you since you link to each other). The problem encountered: in the create poll I have selected to track multiple users with a cookie, and not the IP address. However, in testing, having the same ip and different computers take the test (small office that shares the Internet connection) shows that ip tracking is on and it will not allow for multiple votes. Any way to fix this? | |

| This is simply a great service.
I was wondering if you could enable a more precise customization of the guestbook: 1) input HEX color codes for different formatting options (background colors, fonts, etc.) instead of selecting from the limited list currently available. Alternatively, could you add Cornsilk 2 (#EEE8CD) to the list? 2) consistent scaling of the header font i.e. when reducing font size to 1 the header still remains the same size (disproportionally big compared to the messages font size). Alternatively, an option for not displaying any header would be good too Thank you very much for your help!

| Well, "Name" is often not a name, frequently it's a nickname, let alone the "anonymous". And a separate line wastes space. And no one else seems to be protesting against current layout.
Now about visibility. Until I installed SpamAssasin on my mail server I was getting hundreds of spam mails EVERY DAY. Even with local filters it was hard to do get rid of them and do not miss important ones. And this was only because I let my e-mail address be visible on one of my sites 5 years ago. Not everyone has that good possibilities to protect themselves from spam as I do. Some people may not yet be familiar with how horrible this spam can be, but I rather prefer that they benefit from my experience than suffer later from their own mistakes. Anyway, if people really want to publish their e-mail address, they can do this in a body of their message. However I hardly advice against such actions. Usually e-mail addresses are gathered by automatic spiders and any page that is linked from somewhere else can be found by them, so can be your e-mail address.

| It looks more professional, neat, and visible to see the name and e-mail on different levels. "Name" seems to be simpler and more appropriate than "post message as". It also seems most of my guests want friends to see their e-mail, so they type it in the name box. Maybe we should make e-mails visible. What do you say? | |

| I've just added a possibility to disable or delete users (deleting won't prevent them from registering again, however).
Also now you can set that new users require approval before being able to post anything. Use "Customize" to setup your preferences and "Manage Users" for user managenent. There is a small possibility that I screwed something when I was adding this functionality. So if you notice some bugs or problems - please let me know. 2 edofolks - guestbook layout is single for everyone. If I change it, it will be changed for every guestbook on this site. Honestly I do not believe that what you suggest is any better than now or important at all. Feel free to convince me, if you wish.

We thought we were daft to have missed it earlier. I'm sure we can manage to adjust for daylight saving manually. Many thanks.

| The e-mail field was added. It's off by default. You have to turn it on in "Customize" -> "Show E-mail Field for Guests". The field will appear only to unregistered users with a note that it will be shown to the guestbook owner only.
You will be able to see e-mail address as an active clickable link under a nick of the poster, if it was specified. If the fild was left empty by the poster or entered email address was obviously incorrect - the poster's nick will be shown as plain text as usually.

| Thanks for your quick response. I must tell you that your guestbook is the best. I usually get about 100 junk entries daily and your guestbook keeps them out.
I depend on e-mail to get in touch with people at a later time. My visitors most likely will not register, so the guestbook visible only to owner will be fine.
| January 6, 2007, 8:14 am, admin wrote: | |
| What is the point of those fields? If the anonymous visitor really wants to leave his e-mail he can easily do this in a body of the message.
Guestbook owners can see e-mails of registered users. The only useful feature I can think about is to make a e-mail field for anonymous posters that will be visible to the guestbook owner only.
