| Domingo came across your website and just had to write this down because the memories I have of Wooly Bully are very special not only to me but my entire family, so here goes. At about the time Wooly Bully was being played over the airwaves and by every band in town I must have been around 10 or so living in El Paso, TX. On this particular Saturday my family had traveled across the border to Juarez, MX to attend one of those Mexican fiestas. The band was setting up and I positioned myself next to the stage so that I could get a good view of the musicians playing their instruments (later in life I became a drummer but that’s another story). The band started to play and a couple of kids immediately headed for the dance floor. Like any band that I’ve ever played in, you want everyone on the dance floor and this band wasn’t any different as evident by their next selection. Tan – tan – tan – tan came the famous introduction to Wooly Bully over the loud speakers as the crowd, now a mob headed for the floor. Wow was the only words that I could think of when suddenly my sister grabbed my hand and angrily said, “Let’s dance” literally dragging me onto the dance floor. “Dancing with Wolfs” was not my given name that night, more like “Dancing Scared.” It wasn’t funny then but now that we’re older it’s a family joke and Wooly Bully gets played at every family union. Why? Because as any family member will tell you it’s Aunt Terry’s (sister) song. The puzzling thing is that up until this day I haven’t any idea why or who pissed my sister off and because she’s 6 years older than I, I darn not ask (laughing). So sinceramente Domingo muchas gracias for bringing joy to my childhood memories y que siga con el Wooly Bully…peace brother & Semper Fi!! | |

| One of my biggest regrets is I didn’t get over myself and accept the secretary job that you (Sam) offered me in Memphis in the 70's.
You had just bought a studio and gone into partnership with a lawyer who had been your opponent in a lawsuit. I asked you how you could do business with that guy, and you said, “I know he fights fair.” That really resonated with me, and I know I could have learned so much more from you, if I had been so determined not to be a secretary. You have always been a wise person. I also remember somebody was in the office with a storyboard for a film they were working on (this was early 70’s) - that was another new concept to me. I should have read the signs (or followed the storyboard), and taken the job but noooo, I was going to play rock and roll! Well, I did, so I guess things always work out; but I have some spare time now... Hey, Sam – need a secretary?

| Hi Sam, it´s possible that we´ve played the same gig. I´ve been in a TV show with Mungo Jerry last week in Germany. It was called "RTL Chart Show - the biggest Oldies of all times in Germany ". We´ve played there "In the summertime " on position No 9, " Wolly Bully " was on position No 10. It would have been great to see you in the show, perhaps next time. " In the summertime was the first single I bought, and now I´m playing together with Ray Dorset. By the way, " Wolly Bully " was the second single I bought. These two singles have a special place in my collection, because the pushed me to become a musician. I hope everything´s fine with you, good to know that you´re still working.
Best wishes www.winnie-martin.de ( Mungo Jerry ).
