Sam!
I grew up in India, and your music was huge there!
I remember wearing out my 45 of wooly bully and seeing you in a movie(name escapes me)
where you did monkey see monkey do. The music and your attitude just nailed what rock and roll always needs to be: FUN!! and musically catchy!
I want to thank you for being part of the soundtrack of my life and energizing my spirit whenever I heard your music!
I am also a musician and when I came to America, I called my band "Johnny Bombay and the Reactions" as a nod to the fun name of Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs!
Hope you reap the rewards of your positive energy. I just wanted to send my love, affection and thanks to you.
All the best!

Dear Sam--

You are The Man! What a thrill for so many of us to hear you at the South Pasadena War Memorial Building last Thursday. Your poems hit one home run after another. And I've already heard from so many vets in the audience how much they enjoyed experiencing just another one of your talents. It was especially cool to meet you and have a and hear some of your wonderful, hearfelt reminiscences afterwards. And if that wasn't enough, your delta blues slide playing was righteous.
Hope we meet again in South Pasadena --or out on Highway 61.

Hi Dom!
I have grown up all my life hearing stories of you wading in a fountain at bell isle. My mom, previously Mary Louise Shaffer, lived in an apartment complex with you in Detroit. She always says there is no way you would remember her, but that aside, she always has regretted not asking you for an autograph. Well, she was hit by a truck on October 22nd and has a traumatic brain injury and I would really like to do something special for her. I was wondering if I could possibly send you a record or something to autograph, I am more than willing to pay any price. Please let me know, as I am sure it would really mean the world to her. I have included her email just incase you do remember her and would like to drop her a line. Thank you so much!

I'm doing some personal research into this phenomena called synchromysticism. Do the lyrics of wooly boule have anything to do with rams, goats or sheep or is it a bull/bison? also, how did you arrive at the original name sam the sham and the pharaohs?

Mr. Samudio,
I'll long enjoyed your music and just earlier today particularly enjoyed reading your liner notes to "Sam Hard and Heavy". I was not surprised in the least to discover those had earned you a Grammy.
I especially like the song you penned on that record, "Relativity". I've lately been desperately trying to track down the 45 from that record with Duane Allman playing on the B side. Might you have recollections of that record, or playing with Duane, and is there any possibility you might rerelease some of that vintage music?

Sam--One of the most endearing memories of my youth growing up in the 70's was listening to your "Lil Red Riding Hood" album. My favorite song?? THE PHANTOM...Loved it then, still love it today. Have always been confused by that rap at the end though...care to explain??

Thanks and glad to know you're doing well. God Bless.

Hi Sam,
I found your site which is a long story. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your memories and wonder if you remember the person that sold you the hearse. It was my father. He is 82 now and still recalls selling the hearse to you. He was impressed when you came to buy the hearse. You gave him a 45 record, Wooly Bully. If I recall correctly you sign the cover. Anyway, Dad came home told us about you and how nice you were. Then he pulled out a record and gave it to my brother and me. It was the 45 of Wooly Bully. We sure have fond memories playing that record and dancing. It wasn’t long after we played it that we heard it on the radio. WOW we were so excited.

If you ever have time I would love for Dad and I to meet or talk to you. Thanks for the great memories Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs created for me.
God Bless

Sam I know this is a strange entry for your guestbook but I am doing some research. My husband swears he played the upright bass on the recording or "Wooly Bully". He was a studio musician in Memphis his name was "Red Wayne" or Kenneth Wayne Henderson. Most people call him "Red" His instruement of choice is the Steel Guitar. He was a local DJ at Kwam in memhis. Let me know if it is true can't find anything one way or another on the net.

Hello Sam the Sham

I only wish I would of snapped to the name when you told me I would of told you how much the song Wolly Bully means so much to me and my family. Growing up I had a uncle who has Down Syndrome. He is 60 years of age. As a child my uncle was my protector when me and my mom would take my grandmother and him to the doctor. It was funny because the two of us were wanting the same toys as each other only difference was I was 5 and he was in his early 30's. But the one good memory that I have that I miss so much of my uncle is that when Wolly Bully came on he would get up and dance. See my uncle's name is Manuel Diaz, but for short all my family would call him Bully. So when I would hear that song or anyone would hear that song they knew to turn up the volume and let Manuel dance.

But this memory is just a memory last year Manuel got really sick and well he can no longer walk and is in a wheel chair. But if he still hears that song he will dance from the waist up and still bring a smile to everyone's faces.

So Sam the Sham as long as I live and as long as they continue to play Wolly Bully there will be a place for my uncle and your song for the rest of my life.

So Thank you Sam Thank you
