You can answer here : eric@edj.dyndns.info (sorry if I do not come here to see if there is any answer, because this is not a forum !). | Sam,
I met you on a flight from Laguardia to Syracuse, while you were enroute to Binghamton, NY for a show. I spoke with you about the fact that the US Air Force was forcing me out due to the massive downsizing in 2006. You had asked me to let you know how it all worked out... Well... After getting Senator Clinton, Senator Schumer, and Congressman Jim Walsh involved, the USAF took a good look at my case and determined that they had in fact made a mistake in involuntarily separating me due to an administrative error. In the words of the USAF HQ Personnel Division, it was an "injustice." So, I was reinstated after having been forced out for 15 months, I was given credit for a good year toward retirement, my record was corrected, and I am now in my 17th year of service, and am a Major. One step further... I recieved a letter yesterday in the mail from HQ USAF stating that I will be paid for a portion of the year that I had been involuntarily forced out of the service due to the downsizing. Needless to say, I've found that you CAN fight City Hall and win! I just wanted to let you know the outcome of the potentially career ending story. I recently volunteered for an active duty tour, and started in early July 2008 on my one year tour. Kindest regards, Sean VanHoltz

| Hi Sam!
You are IT man! I have been loving your music ever since I was a kid. Wooly Bully is one of my favorite songs. Whenever I hear it, I still think of that scene in the movie "Splash" where he's on teh boat and falls off, while the song plays in the background. I too grew up in the country and our neighbor had a bull which my grandma named Wooly Bully. However, I think my favorite Pharoahs song has got to be "Little Red Riding Hood." Whenever I get together with my buddies for a jam session, I always have to play that AT LEAST once! You rock! The sixties are hands down the best era in music in my book, and you are on of the kings! Well, time to go pop into my 67 Mustang, turn up your music on the iPod, and take off down the open road. From one Mexican American to another, "Gracias para todo la musica!" Valdez Bravo, Portland, Oregon

| Hello Sam,
Recently, I had a sweet childhood flashback. So, I thought I would google your name and see what came up. Your music has been a wonderful memory for me. My Dad was a fan and he instilled that same love of music in his children. I remember there was this boy who lived across the street from my Grandma. He visited her all the time, I became jealous of the relationship. He ended up in one of my classes at school. His name was Demetrius, we called him D. I'll never forget the day my Dad told me who D's Dad was. Sam the Sham. Although I was jealous of D I always thought of him and wondered about him. I hope he is well. He was so kind to my grandmother who is still alive and well. I wish you well, thanks for the memories of beloved music. There's nothing like dancing and singing with my grandkids to Wooly Bully! Blessings, Angie

In 1965 I was 5yrs old and I remember going to the store and daddy buying that album. He played it over and over and he would pick me up and swing me around. He would smile so big and laughed. He would sing with you and had me singing also. Thank you for that song. Denise NONNALUVS@AOL.COM

You even gave me the chance to go on-board your bus. I remember Butch telling me how much he missed his home--and couldn't wait to get back. You were a "Class" Guy. Thanks for the memories!

| Domingo came across your website and just had to write this down because the memories I have of Wooly Bully are very special not only to me but my entire family, so here goes. At about the time Wooly Bully was being played over the airwaves and by every band in town I must have been around 10 or so living in El Paso, TX. On this particular Saturday my family had traveled across the border to Juarez, MX to attend one of those Mexican fiestas. The band was setting up and I positioned myself next to the stage so that I could get a good view of the musicians playing their instruments (later in life I became a drummer but that’s another story). The band started to play and a couple of kids immediately headed for the dance floor. Like any band that I’ve ever played in, you want everyone on the dance floor and this band wasn’t any different as evident by their next selection. Tan – tan – tan – tan came the famous introduction to Wooly Bully over the loud speakers as the crowd, now a mob headed for the floor. Wow was the only words that I could think of when suddenly my sister grabbed my hand and angrily said, “Let’s dance” literally dragging me onto the dance floor. “Dancing with Wolfs” was not my given name that night, more like “Dancing Scared.” It wasn’t funny then but now that we’re older it’s a family joke and Wooly Bully gets played at every family union. Why? Because as any family member will tell you it’s Aunt Terry’s (sister) song. The puzzling thing is that up until this day I haven’t any idea why or who pissed my sister off and because she’s 6 years older than I, I darn not ask (laughing). So sinceramente Domingo muchas gracias for bringing joy to my childhood memories y que siga con el Wooly Bully…peace brother & Semper Fi!! | |
