Unfortunately, we have not been able to raise sufficient funds to date to erect the proposed monument. We are, however, installing very soon a roadside sign marking the location of the Maxey-Ferguson Cemetery in Spanishburg, WV, where Jeremiah Solesbury and his wife Mary (Clay) Solesbury are buried. Thank you for your message board posting. Also, please join us on Facebook -- just follow the link posted on the Solesbury Monument 2009 web site.

If you are proud of your ancestors of the Solesbury/Shresbury/Clay linage you have a great opportunity to add information to the Time Capsule. It will be opened in 25 years, the Mercer County Historical Society has the great opportunity to house the artifact at our "History House" located at 908 Harrison Street Princeton, WV
Information can be mailed to MCHS is P.O. Box 5012 Princeton, WV 24740 or Jo Ellen Logowski at 585 Tank Branch Road Glen Morgan, WV 25813 "DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP YOUR HISTORY ALIVE"
MCHS has been renovating a 100 year old house into a Research Libray/Museum. we also have the 1890 Broyles Cabin on our lot.
We plan to open Library in April 2010. There's an old saying "you don't know where your going until you know where you've been" which is true, genealogy is the biggest hobby in America.

Thanks for posting this page. I especially liked the photo of Jeremiah's gravestone. I put a blurb about your solesburymonument2009.org webpage on my Ancestry.com page.

I was also wondering how "Solesbury" got changed to "Shrewsbury." Any thoughts?

We are excited to be a part of this great family. Very interested in helping out and donating some funds. We visited the graves at Nubbins Ridge and would gladly volunteer in helping to clean up, i.e. garbage and rubbish removal (free of charge).
Our line comes from Jeremiah and Mary's son Thomas, who had a son named Jeremiah. His son John Burl (Birl) fathered a son by the name of Phillip Whitfield in 1893. Whitfield's youngest son is Roby R. Shrewsbury which is my father (Tina Shrewsbury Harrell). My two brothers Rondell R. and Jody A. Shrewsbury each have one child. Lindsey Shrewsbury and Justin A. Shrewsbury respectfully. Justin is the 8th direct bloodline to carry on Shrewsbury name.
We (Tina Harrell, Jody Shrewsbury and Roby R. Shrewsbury) are looking for any information regarding John B. Shrewsbury B. July 1846 D. July 22, 1902 in Spencer, WV at a Mental State Hospital.
No records or burial markers can be found. We wanted to see his grave, but our understanding is the graves were unmarked and possibly built over. The old hospital has long been torn down.
Would love to talk to ANYBODY regarding ANYONE of this family.
